So this week was the first day of school ;D
Okay so school started officially on Tuesday (3 Jan) and whoooooosh, suddenly its Saturday night.
This week has been pretty fun but still tiring.
Have quite a bit to blog (or WordPress HAHA) but I’m starting to get tired though it’s only 10.57pm as I write this sentence thus I shall keep this pretty short.
First two days of school was Secondary Three orientation and we’re the first batch to have two days of orientation as the previous batches gave feedback that they had not enough time for bonding or something. Thus, I wasn’t too involved in Sec One Orientation, except to bring them from the quadrangle to the hall which is pretty much nothing compared to my involvement level last year. The Secondary Twos and Secondary Fours did most of the work for the first two days.
And this is totally random and out of the blue – but the lunch break on Wednesday make me miss 206 so much. Sue Yu and Xiao Hui gave everyone in the class this personalized photo frame (AND I GOT PINK HAHA) with a class photo and after that April, Yu Lin, Vic and I FINALLY went to the SAC – something we’ve been putting off since last year. I miss them so so so much :( Though its only the beginning of school :/ Laksa also brings back fond memories hahahahahah. Like Vic and me giving Xingyi/Esther our egg yolks and bean sprouts. And me giving Vic my taupok. (Which basically means Im eating a bowl of soup, noodles, egg white and chicken only)
I MISS THEMMMMMM GAHHHHHH D:
Okay back to topic.
This year had some changes from last year – no school tours for them, I heard from my Sec 2 PSLs, and no time for installation rehearsal.
But they added in this cool thing called Dragon Boating.
At first, I wasn’t involved in Outdoors Activity but yes Exco’12 went.
I admit I wasn’t looking forward to it the day before but in retrospect, that was unnecessary.
Although the class I was in charge of, 105, went the same day as I did (they were split into two batches) I was in charge of 113. They’re a lively bunch of people with this girl offering rock candy a few times to Julia and me, and its the first class I’ve seen taking the initiative to facilitate their own bonding games. Which reminded me that in the early mornings I went to school to bond with 105, their reactions were like blank stares at us when we tried to play games with them. And I didn’t/don’t even know their names. Even until now, for most of them. But they are really a lively bunch of people as well which I’ll talk about later. :)
Got reminded of 206’11 when I saw Ms Heng and Ms Falilah and god, fond memories flow back.
Dragon boated with like 9 other Sec Ones and their teacher and that experience was like awesome. Team work all that. Even thought about dragging a boat and getting all the Exco’12 to escape with it instead of getting split up. But yeah that was not feasible hahahah.
Dragon boating really requires a team spirit as well as perseverance, I mean yes many a time I feel like I can just give up and throw the oar into the water, or at a weird man wearing shades who was bobbing his head to the chants of many of us. But I didn’t. And although my team didn’t get first, that sense of accomplishment is still there.
And I got drenched from head to toe, like you know with water trickling down from my face but the life jacket (Julia calls it life saver hahah) absorbs some of that haha. This sounds gross. And the water evaporates extremely fast because of the scorching sun as quickly as I get wet all over again from crazy people holding containers. Not only the instructors, by the way. Seeing the enthusiasm from some of the Secondary Ones scare me sometimes. When they see people rowing near their boat, they’re like I dont know, male mosquitoes seeing human beings, they just get crazy that instance and widen their eyes and scoop water from this container and pour at you. Like crazy people. And if they don’t have the containers, they use their oars and desperately try to soak you to the skin. Really. It’s quite creepy being a victim. But that really shows their enthusiasm. Which is awesome.
That was basically the highlight of the week, with my PE shorts getting soaked as well as my founders day tee and my hair. But that experience was awesome and I remember in primary school I’ve attempted dragon boating once as well. I vaguely remember it but this will leave a rather strong impression of the Secondary Ones this year. :)
For that entire day I had LOA and had some time spent with the Exco’12 as well ;D
And I felt so terrible missing lessons as much as I enjoyed Dragon Boating.
When I got back to class and saw that entire stack of paper given by the various teachers I was like o h m y g o d.
On Friday I managed to attend three lessons and CCT hehe ;D Missed Integrated Math (again) and Chemistry. And break. It was fried food day. :( But I managed to get potato wedges with Almond HAHAHAHA.
And yes during break I went to bond with class 105 again, as I do in the mornings, but this time they were like a totally different group of people – extremely hyper and enthusiastic. And some of them called themselves baboons. I dont even know why. But its cool. Hahaha.
So they played pictionary and also settled on their class cheer which they ultimately weren’t able to show the level. :( When they cheered in unison, hearing them actually made me feel like “omg is this the class I’ve been talking to in the past mornings” because they have this high level of energy and okay I think maybe its because its during day time and after their break. HAHAHAHA or maybe they warmed up to one another.
So later we went to hall, and the SLs demonstrated some of the cheers and I saw April and Sue Yu (HAHA THE TINY PAIR)! And then I cheered my lungs out and my throat was like about to die because I wasnt using my dan tian. And I know it. Hahaha. 105 did well, so did 106. But the ultimate winners were 108 and 109 which is okay lah.
HAHAHA so after that went back to class for Chinese lesson which we talked about 2012, end of the world blablabla. Although I don’t really believe 21 Dec 2012 will be the end of the world, I cant help thinking what I will actually do. I actually think I will just live it as though its a normal day – too bad it ends there. :P But yes after Chinese, Exco’12 has to go back to hall for Sec One orientation closure and we went a little too early and the slide was about previous campus on Kings Road. I think. Seriously. So yada yada then we did two last cheers with the Sec One cohort, which we cheered Shan Ge and what was it? What say you say? Okay shit my memory is failing me.
And we were like “Sec Ones are you ready?” then the response was “yes” and after 3, 2, 1 the people at the front row were staring straight back at me without cheering and I was like silently thinking ”CHEER PEOPLE CHEER WHY ARE YOU NOT CHEERING CHEER NOW” and okay they didnt read my mind. Actually I will admit that even though as a prefect in primary school last time, when I cheered I wasnt like those high kind of people cheering my lungs out and like I was like following the crowd and like yeah, cheering, but definitely not my loudest. And Im now cheering like this mad woman I never thought I will become. Nanyang changed me. HAHAHAHA.
After we left the hall, we talked talked talked and then did the PSL cheer with Exco’11 leading us. Lessons were still ongoing hahah but we were super loud lor I think.
I SPELL MY NAME AS PSL AND I AM PROUD TO SCREAM AND YELL SAY HEY OH OH HEY SAY HEY OH OH HEY SAY PSL SAY P SAY PSL SAY S SAY PSL SAY L COME ON LETS GO PSL!
Okay so after that PSL Exco’12 shared with Exco’11 stuff that have happened and our thoughts and about work distribution and so on. My stomach started making noises towards the end and I had CCA afterwards. Time check 2.35 pm. CCA starts at 2.45 pm. By the time I dashed to the canteen it was 2.38 then there was this (rather) long queue at the Jap store and no one at the rest. So I decided to buy chicken rice. And there wasnt chicken?!?! So I went to the noodle store to see if theres sliced fish noodle. NO MORE. Now you know why my history sucks so bad my inference skills are pretty lousy. So anyway I got my food from the Jap store and dashed to CCA in ninja mood with Shin Ler and Kelda. Changed into 1000 shirt and went in and they were in a circle already. Ninja mood again and yessss we started activities. About names. HAHAH WAS A BREEZE FOR ME (except for the fact that I had to breathe halfwfay) BECAUSE THEY’RE ALL PEOPLE I KNOW except for Mr Matthew Grey. Got a new batchmate named Khinler haha laughed like crazy at that. At Selda. And ok next we tried to pretend to be hanging on to the cliff. Then the one that left the impression on me was that we had to do an action for something and we had to say we are doing something else. Next person has to do the action of that something you said you were doing and yes it goes on. Heyi said she was assasinating the president or something and i was like “WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME WHY?” So I did a stabbing action which Mr Matthew G. didnt understand since he thought it should be a gun. Then he had a relevation (or maybe a less strong word) that I was stabbing the president with power. Yes. (President as in president not Rachel Low)
Then I thought of something super random on the spot which was washing watermelons in the sink and Kelda was the lucky one to do it. And then it started to morphing to things like “I am digging my nose ” to “I am smelling someone’s butt” to “I’m shitting” hahahahahaha Theatrettes.
So yessss after that ninja mood back to Hongzi and Blue Blazer for Sec One PTM Duty and I had school tour with a girl called Veronike. (Pronounced as veronica) And she’s pretty awesome. I love people who talk to me about random things. And then Nick Ng somehow appeared and said “You leave CCA to do this kind of saikang?” and NO THATS NOT MY VIEW hahahahaha SO DONT JUDGE ME. And he told me to look like a senior. Okay. Fine. Be that way. So yeah I was doing school tours. And I kinda freaked out at first because I didnt read through the Chinese school tour documents (like just flip flip flip the page you know) and thank god there was actually no need for that. And I was like spontaneous haha I didnt say stuff from the script. More of stuff from personal experience and I didnt really mind blank and I was telling Veronike to talk talk talk haha! Shes really good too. (Like note the word “too” ;D HAHAHA) My first tour took like super long because it involved climbing up stairs and since they’re parents I cant go into ninja mood. I had this plastic/genuine/you-decide smile almost the whole time and I was sweating like a pig in the blue blazer but yesss there was this parent from PSG taking photos and she made my whole group of parents take a picture with me and Veronike and another parent. HAHAHA awkward max. And my school tour number was 8 and its a lucky number and I love 8. Okay so back to school tour and the parents in the group were really good, no one strayed away like Open House and they really bothered to listen (I think) since they asked some questions along the way. And yeah Veronike says some were creepy and kept moving towards her (thank god not to me HAHAH) but they just perk up when I mention “your child….” “your daughter….”
I was so shocked at how spontaneous I was. Seriously. *self praise*
Last stop was LT but second last was Dance studio which they spent like a long time looking at the NYCD and I was trying to get them to leave but I was afraid they’ll beat me up or something though some parents looked pretty bored as well. All of the mothers were like glueing their eyes to the dancers and I was so sorry for the dancers for actually bringing them in :/ So eventually they left, and their smiles and thankyous and “well done!” made me feel like my efforts have paid off. Still sweating, I secretly went backstage to sip my green tea hahaha before bracing myself for the next batch of parents. I only managed to conduct 2 school tours because I spent way too long on the first one but Veronike and I were still awesome nonetheless. So the second batch of parents werent that smiley and they were a smaller group. Then halfway through I realized one of them were like Chinese-speaking. And I recognized her from Sec 1 Registration. But like 5 out of 6 were english speaking so I didnt change it to Chinese. But I addressed her questions in Chinese #billingualisminhazelho HAHAHAHAHA. So yadayada I think we spent an hour on the previous batch so we were determined to finish this quickly because an hour is way toooooo long for a normal school tour. So we talked less crap and I went out of breadth and I felt like lying down on the floor at random times. This time I was smart and I didnt bring them to the dance studio. Let them stand outside (: They still thanked me and smiled at me at the end. Saw parents from the first batch and they were like “Round 2?” and like “Jiayou” and I felt so loved from strangers I just met hahah but they were just being nice. But that kind of encouragement really motivates me. Left school at 6.50 or before that a bit. First time leaving school so late for PSL duty ;D
Which reminds me of 1000 night rehearsals.
Okay so I said it would be a short post but it’s apparently not.
I would say this week is actually pretty productive and it was fun and tiring. My vocabulary damn limited but my LA teacher said during lesson on Friday that to make something damn cheem and meaningful, you dont actually need this gigantic range of un-understandable vocabulary. Sounds cheem right. I know.
Okay shall go sleep now.
Waking up early tomorrow.
