First things first, Happy National Day guys :)
When you read this, it’ll be 9 August 2015 so yes!! Happy National Day!!
I hope today will be great and fun for you – I know I’ll be stuck in front of the goggle box (willingly) HAHA.
I managed to find a red box on Google, and it’s Butter and Shoyu (Soy Sauce) Flavour HAHAHA.
Okay that was completely unnecessary.
How have all of you been!!
I hope these two weeks have been intense and productive for relevant friends (we all know what’s coming up in 18 days) but if it hasn’t been, we’re on the same boat. Let’s not sink together. Get off my boat.
ANYWAY one year ago I wrote this post here in response to Ms Not-Proud-to-be-Singaporean post (it created so much buzz that time!) and today, this post is not dedicated to Mr Controversial-Banana-Lover (sounds really awful hahahaha……….) but this boy really loves saying things at the wrong time, whether they make sense or not. If you’re not kept in the loop, curly hair uploaded a new video on Facebook, and Im not naming him because if he googles his name, he may arrive to this very place you’re at and even though I’m not significant enough for him to dedicate a video to, better safe than sorry right!! If you’ve nothing more important to do (you should have), then you can consider checking out his video, which was hilarious at some points. #PAPAPASIRRIS
But on a more serious note, he definitely loves to strike while the iron is hot and he never fails to come up with a bunch of insults and remarks that don’t seem to be constructive, but again, they don’t need to be, because he ain’t no leader. It’s always easy to criticise when you’re amongst the masses – ultimately, you aren’t the one fixing any mess because you’re no one at all, so say anything you want till you heart’s content, if you’re lucky, you’ll get some responses but if you’re not, you just slide away into the background as someone with too much crap to say. Therefore, you do not deserve to be heard. (Like me. HAHA)
I think the reason why he is able to reach out to so many people is because the government responded in the first place, generating more viewership for his content, and it escalated quickly from there. And he’s one of the people other than Ms NPTBS (aforementioned) who dared to speak up, so people who’ve been feeling “suppressed” under the government’s rule get to enjoy free ridership… which is ridiculous. I don’t know.
I guess the teenagers in Singapore are less politically apathetic than they appear to be!
Oh, I must share this really interesting observation from the comments section of his videos (this is truly where you find the gems, haha!) – some dude reprimanded Vlogging King in the comments, and a fan of VK scolded him back, and said dude pushed out the whole “freedom of speech” argument “granted” (not so much in reality) to Mr A.Y. in the first place. It was pretty funny. No? Never mind.
There is really nothing wrong with expressing one’s views so blatantly I think, but it’s important to be cultured (polite maybe not so) about it, whether it’s meant to be satirical or not. The fact that he uses such crude language and pictures already shows his lack of respect, which is without a doubt, deliberate, if not, how else can he generate buzz?
Okay end of discussion, I don’t know anymore facts about him to name him anymore, because I don’t want to be mean about it, but thats my opinion on the entire matter.
Not as coherent and fluent as he is with his arguments, but this is my blog la! Cut me some slack!!
I have no idea why I named this post the way I did, it was really a spontaneous decision.
Craving for Jagabee now :’(
This year’s National Day long weekend hasn’t/won’t be(en) very eventful, but I’m glad I have my family with me – everyone’s here in SG! Wahoo!
I feel like I have no right to feel nostalgic or anything, because I’m only 18 years old.
But by SG100, I hope I’ll still be alive with 20 grandchildren swarming my house and playing Bridge with me.
Maybe by then there’ll be cooler games and greater technology to play Teleportation.
But I’ll be 68! Wow! #lowvalue-addedstatement
But because I was indeed born in the 2oth century, just let me look back on some things I miss about the past. Obviously my past doesn’t go way back into 1965 but I had a childhood also la ok.
5 Things (because 50 is an overkill) I Miss About My Childhood
#1 Cosplaying as a Powerpuff Girl
HAHHAHAHA I am kidding.
I would share a picture with you but I have reservations.
I looked scary as heck.
If I dress up as Blossom now, I don’t think any of you will want to be my friend anymore.
And I have no interest in cosplaying hahahaha.
But mum used to stuff my sister and I into funky outfits, it doesn’t just end there as a PPF Girl. #darkpast
#2 Playing with “Toys”
The very concept of “toys” is very foreign to me now, because my toy now is my phone. Only my phone.
I am not a play-Barbie-put-fake-nail-polish kind of girl by the way, I used to play with cars.
Those normal one with wheels, remote-controlled, or those kind when you rub against the floor numerous times to speed it forward… you name it, I got it.
(Heck, I even got a huge remote-controlled truck from my uncle once, and I cleverly printed my parents’ car logo and carplate number to stick on it. Pretty weird, actually.)
I would use whiteboard markers to doodle on the marble flooring in my previous house (not sure if my mum ever realised…) – I drew stuff like carpark lots (basically the four corners of a rectangle), humps and the carpark barrier thing. Then I had this blue box of cars and I’ll take them out one by one. I played with them so often, my mum would get Maribel to clean them once in a while.
I’ve always loved the Mini Cooper and I hope in time to come, I’ll be able to drive it myself. Contrary to popular belief, I would love the classic red car instead of a bimbo pink car. HAHAHAHA.
And I also forced my mum to buy me this mat which had a network of roads and various carparks and it was SO incredibly smelly, I don’t know how to describe it to you. Basically it rotted in my storeroom and because of the stench, I only played with it twice my entire life.
TMI but here is roughly how it used to look like:
I hope that kid’s rug doesn’t stink.That would suck. A lot.
Was just talking about this to my classmates the other day at the class bench, and I forgot what it was called. Basically I described how it worked to them, without knowing what it was called and Isabel was incredulous and frankly, over-the-top if you ask me.
Her: YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS CALLED? IT IS CALLED BAYBLADE!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS CALLED? OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. YOU DONT KNOW BAYBLADE? /facepalm/
Don’t think my ignorance warranted such a frightening response, but ok. Whatever you say Isabel.
I don’t remember it looking so complicated in my primary school days, but yes this is how it looks like.
I’ve never owned a set, but I had so much fun playing it in school one fine day in Primary 3. I remember it because after I was obsessed with it, my zao4 ju4 grades started to drop (drop drop like grades) and my teacher talked to me about it because I used to get A or A+. Then I got C+ one fine day and she got worried. HAHAHAHA.
Just remembered NYH gave me a crash course about how it works before and apparently he owns an extensive collection, but he never shared it with me in class though we were classmates from Primary 1. Selfish.
Apparently, “some got teeth one,” he told me excitedly then.
I remember pulling our tables together in class to form this tiny arena for these things to move, and it was so thrilling. I have always been model-pupil-worthy so can you imagine me with round glasses and two plaits releasing these beasts onto the classroom table? It is phenomenal. I think I’m born to be a b@d@$$.
#4 2/30-cent Baes
I was so in love with these two snacks, and they used to be 20 cents each, then the seaweed ones promoted to 30 cents, then the spin crackers followed suit and I don’t even have a clue if TNS still sells them now.
(I got them commissioned in miniatures to store in my cabinet, so yes, I own them ^ HAHA if you’re keen to check out my growing collection, let me know. Shoutout to CM for the incredibly adorable Iced Milo WAH it is super cute I love it. And the meaningful poker card set. Really means so much to us, eh? HAHA)
These were my favourite snacks in lower primary, and I remember fighting with LYY over them one day, because she asked me for one seaweed cracker, and I declined sharing. She got upset and she stomped off to the assembly area angrily. I felt pretty bad inside but lol. Seaweed crackers >. HAHAHA KIDDING BEEF love u. You know I will always share with you my snacks. Because you are my bae.
I also remember leaving my bag at the roundabout area behind the school, before trudging back to the canteen to get myself some little snacks before my mum came to pick me up (have always been blessed), and sometimes I will see a wild NYH running in from the back gate to tell me my mum was here, so I should get the heck out of the canteen immediately. He was pretty sweet even as a 9-year-old. But not so much now. HAHAHAH KIDDING
By the way, do you remember Haw Flakes (shan1 zha1)? I would classify that as secondary bae. Like a secondary alcohol. LOL what am I saying.
#5 Breezing Through Homework
I realised I love doing homework, only when I know how to do them.
And it was so much easier in primary school obviously, and even though I didn’t top my cohort (once, almost! HAHA!) or got 290 for PSLE, I think I wasnt too bad.
Now I’m just falling between the cracks and clinging on desperately for survival.
Oh, the woes.
HAHAH ^ that sentence sounded really sorrowful.
I wish I can equip myself with all the knowledge in the world, because it is so incredible being well-read and knowledgeable, especially knowing so much beyond the textbooks – current affairs!! Going to stock myself up with all these information haha because it’s always great to know whats happening around the world. Feel really suaku saying this. But I really want to know all about the history and the future to know the reasons behind why everything is the way it is today!
I initially planned to go up to 10, but I need to prioritise work.
This post has been pretty fun to write, and I hope you had fun reading it too!
Happy National Day once again, go get all the love and fun you can get from lovely Singaporeans all over.
Did you watch the flash mob on the train? It would have been so amazing being part of it. Got goosebumps just watching it :’) Wahhhh.
Sometimes when you love a country, you love all its people too.
Including banana lovers with unkempt hair.
HAHA I am sorry.
(^ national day special so got kiss)
