Do you know what is one of the most terrible feelings in the world?
When someone is consciously eating fried, oily, fatty food that tastes disgusting. It’s like a double killer.
OKAY anyway hello there!!
Welcome back to my crib. HAHA.
I hope the first week of January has been kind to you, wherever you are! :)
I thought the week was relatively mundane and slow, but managed to end the academic week with a bang with make-up Biology lecture on Saturday. Second round of humiliation. Please don’t talk about it. HAHAHA. Taking things in my stride you guys, don’t laugh at me.
This week I made a conscious effort to be more attentive in class (nobody is perfect) so yes I’m taking baby steps… Still making some noise but relatively less compared to 2014.
I realized J2 can be compared to a game. It’s like “YOU THINK NEW YEAR NEW GAME?? IT’S NOT! CONTINUE FROM LEVEL 10 FROM END OF J1”.
It’s like you have the whole of J1 to slowly climb up to a peak (hopefully at Promos) and it just stays there. J2 continues from that peak and pushes you to conquer greater heights. It’s like you don’t get to start from Level 1 anymore. Okay maybe I’m talking nonsense but because I’m no genius and have photographic memory, this is quite painful for me! No more start-school-in-February phenomenon T.T
Or it can be compared to a Mdm Toh who taught me physics in Nanyang. Her lessons were slightly torturous and she spoke really, really, really slowly – but before you know it, she’s gone from Chapter 7 to Chapter 10. Okay la Im exaggerating but really not lying – I have no idea how she speaks so slowly yet manages to zoom past all the concepts. Or maybe Physics is just an odd subject. Never into Physics even though if you really sit down and compare, maybe I did better in Physics at random points in my life till I made a mental decision sometime in Sec 3 that Physics and me will never be together my next life (i.e. JC).
I guess this is where I tell you why I named the post the way I did – still trying to get use to this intensity in school. AND THE LONG QUEUES IN THE CANTEEN. Oh my god when I see the people I’m really just like “LOADING… ERROR 404 WHY GOT SO MANY PEOPLE??”. But the main reason why is obviously still because I’m still stretching and doing warm-up exercises before I really run the marathon (really love this analogy XJ mentioned) – trying to minimize stitches ok.
I’m making school sound like it has been total crap, but really, it’s nothing (read: somewhat) like that. Perks of going back to school include seeing people I am into and… and…… and……….
Oh well. I guess it ends there??
Oh yes! Now we kind of have a “fixed” classroom where all our lessons are held (super into this) and life is great – found my favourite seat in class HAHAHA. To be honest it wasn’t very fun moving from classroom A to lecture theatre then to class bench (because no home) and then to auditorium and then to classroom B.
Now I have a home. :’)
A home that I can call mine. :’)
Okay I shut up.
CommServe hasn’t started so I haven’t had the chance to see Aliqa yet! Ready to convince her spelling is actually really fun and math is amazing. To do that, I have to truly believe in them before I spread the love.
Self-hypnotising in progress.
Haha crap aside, really love the happy atmosphere school provides! Below are a few photos with people who make life better:
With the foursome
(it’s a terrible name)
Just want to say I’ll always love you guys and thank you for making my first week of school more tolerable :) This week will be pretty intense so jiayou! And always be happy because y’all deserve the best in every way possible! WO AI NI MEN (including Lian who finally admitted that my bitmoji is pretty cute)
With the batch
Even though meet-ups aren’t really frequent because of the different lifestyles we lead (60% dark – IM KIDDING IM KIDDING I LOVE F <- not spelling out but you know what I mean) – thank you for being such a happy bunch and happy (belated) birthday JM! Hope you had a great fine day with special friend! (Oops I mean friends!) Love y’all and jiayou!!
With the FBN
This was when we attempted to study for Bio Review Test last Sunday! Haha everything went down the drain (i.e. the attempt to study, the test itself and my resolution to lose weight) but it was fun!! Always picking fights with you but you know I love you :) :) :)
If you feel sad or inadequate at any point throughout the next few weeks, remember that you are always better than you think you are. You can conquer whatever you dread (terrible people, terrible events, terrible remarks, terrible grades, etc.) and channel that energy into something that deserves it more (people who love you, things you love, positive mindset, revision packages…. Maybe not the last one but I attempted to match problem with panacea) BECAUSE YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE.
But then again it’s really okay to feel stressed and everything – you’re not alone! I had my terrible moments this week as well worrying about decisions and throwing fits over petty things (thank you for loving me) but everything works out in the end.
Like now Im feeling pretty terrible inside out because of some bug/bacteria/virus I caught. At least this can officially start me right in my “PLEASE EAT HEALTHY HH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I BEG YOU PLEASE SHUT YOUR MOUTH TO TERRIBLE FOOD” campaign… or self-discovery journey.
On a sidenote, haven’t eaten You-Mian all week?!?! Too busy grieving over the death of nice food in the canteen. Oh yes I tried the Chicken Baked Rice (CBR) – there was some sort of sign.
The canteen was flooded with people with queues for stalls going down the steps in the middle BUT THERE WAS NOT A SINGLE SOUL AT THE WESTERN STALL. So I happily skipped there and got myself a $2.50 CBR and proceeded to eat. I think the CBR had almost no cheese, odd-tasting chicken and it was a relatively small portion. So I guess no more CBR in the future unless completely necessary. Okay la if I have to be completely fair it was edible and not so bad till it didn’t deserve a queue at all – but if you have time to spare, and cash to save, spend wisely. Do the right thing. It’s alright to be a conformist. Nobody will blame you.
See you next week!
Hopefully next week everyone will be happier and less tired – though I really doubt.
Officially ending my post with a picture of Mary being bullied but looking ultra happy. Biology lectures, I got you.
P.S. If you know me I’m not a water person (i.e. carry a tank of water wherever I go and drinking incessantly) BUT this year I’ve changed for the better. Intending to finish the water in my bottle every single day – in the past 11 years, there were days I returned home with my bottle STILL full of water and I have to try and convince my mother I already refilled my bottle thrice. Sorry mummy, I lied. But now you know Im drinking water. Let the past be the past, let the bygones be bygones. I love you.
ft. XJ’s hand
P.P.S. OH MY GOD HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Forgot to say this right at the beginning but yeah, if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands. That’s right. Don’t bother. HAHA
P.P.P.S. I AM LOVING BITMOJI – if I love you I probably sent you some pretty disturbing ones. Do not take it personally it is a sign of true love and my new creepy tool/weapon
Haha couldn’t come up with a more interesting title so…
It was nice letting my hair down (both meanings intended) and feeling the natural air-conditioner everywhere but it’s also great to be back.
There was this day we had Kaiseiki (basically Japanese multi-course dinner, you can go google to find out what it comprises) for a few days straight and thank goodness we returned back to the city before I stabbed my eye with a chopstick.
You need to take note that “a few days straight” = breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Not a single meal left without kaiseiki.
It doesn’t matter if there’s no roti prata or laksa – a dandy old french croissant would do the trick and break me from the kaiseki spell.
But okay before you read my post maybe you can watch this video I made :)
Actually you should watch it alongside the post so you can match it to the content better. HAHAHA.
PLEASE WATCH IT
720p is the way to roll, please.
PLEASE WATCH IT??
More comprehensive than this blog post I think haha.
Oh by the way scroll down to the end of the post if you must skip the content – there’s a new Would You Rather question :)
*Dont have a lot of pictures because all of the photos are from my phone but they’ll do!!
Day 0 – Singapore
Basically we went to the airport the day before because the flight was a midnight one.
Thank you for coming FBN :) :) :)
You’ll see a lot of this san-lian-pai thing so GET USED TO IT!! Hahah with my ahma. So cute.
We ate at the “hawker centre” at the departure side of the airport where they are named after the supposedly best of hawker food in SG…. but maybe because it was 12 and they were all tired so everything was pretty terrifying.
Okay the rest of the things that happened from now on rightfully belongs to Day 1.
Day 1 – Osaka
So we arrived at Nagoya Airport at 8+ and we had our first stopover at some random place that is really insignificant.
But look what I found!
Milk Tea with Frozen characters in Tsum Tsum form HAHAHA super cute please.
For lunch, we went to a restaurant where we could make our own Takoyaki……. (watch the video)
Food was pretty terrible contrary to how it looks!!!!
Still going to rate it 0.5 star out of 5.
It was really pretty bad.
Pretty cool picture in my opinion hahaha
Thereafter, we headed to Osaka Castle!
To be honest it wasn’t very mind-blowing, plus we didn’t actually enter the castle because there was an extra fee PLUS everything is supposedly in Japanese so it’s not practical for the tour group to pay the money to look at something they can’t understand.
Selfie with the chocolate ice-cream I got in the area!!
Later we headed to Shinsaibashi Shopping Street!
Night view :)
We had dinner there as well!
It’s basically a stressful dinner place because it’s where people stop-buy-eat-go and people are literally standing around, waiting for people who ate to finish and leave.
It wasn’t that fantastic but was not too bad so a 3-star rating will suit it. Presenting to you, Char Siew Ramen!
Prior to that got Starbucks as well ;D (to get the Osaka Starbucks card LOL)
We also went to Daimaru Shopping Centre and checked out several stores along the way, including a Disney store!
With my mummy!
Day 2 – Osaka
Universal Studios Japan!!
Don’t have a lot of photos here but took quite a number of videos so check that out if you’re interested!
First ride we took was Amazing Spider-Man (basically like USS’s Transformers ride) and it was exactly the same as Orlando’s except it’s in Japanese.
I think my family got a bit of trauma after going to Orlando’s crazy theme parks last December.
Then afterwards we took the Back to the Future ride!
We had lunch at the Happiness Cafe – would look happier if it hadn’t been raining terribly!
We had curry rice ^ It wasnt fantastic but it wasnt bad either so 3.5 stars. HAHA.
Then we went for a lame Hello Kitty Ribbon Walk thing which shoots high in the what-the-hell scale.
But what really broke the scale as named above was a ridiculous goldfish ride. Elmo’s goldfish or something. It’s for kids aged 3 and below I think.
But we sat it.
Most humiliating 20 minutes of my life because once we started queuing we can’t stop.
And it was terrible.
But nobody knew who I was so that made it a little better I guess.
Drank this cup of Hot Chocolate at the Elmo cafe while waiting to enter the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
Which turned out to be exactly the same as Orlando’s one yet again.
But there were SO MANY PEOPLE and there was a crazy long queue to enter the candy shop – wanted to buy some terrible jellybeans for terrible people but oh well :(
The waiting time for the Forbidden Journey intense roller-coaster was 160 minutes HAHA.
So we left soon after that and visited the shops and stuff.
And I bought this popcorn:
Soy Sauce x Butter
It isn’t my favourite flavour but it’s my sister’s favourite.
Actually it’s really quite nice la HAHA.
We visited the Hard Rock Cafe (store section) as well.
That night we had buffet for dinner at the hotel – ate a crazy amount of cold crab and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.
It was a sudden and fiery and intense thing at the moment… it’s not really like that in Singapore.
4 stars for dinner because it really didn’t even have anything nice… except for the crab.
And that’s about it for Day 2!
Day 3 – Osaka/Kyoto/Fukui
Started the day off with a Shinkansen ride to Kyoto!
Honestly it was pretty lame because while we took the bullet train ride which was 12 minutes, we still had to wait for the coach which took 1.5 hours to go to Kiyomizutera (a temple).
Chrome filter makes life better. Really.
Over-adjusted the brightness here HAHA but yes it’s quite pretty!
Also bought this Chocolate Mochi from the stalls along the climb up to the temple. It was not too bad but erps.
And this is just a random picture of a tiny potato chip snack I found there. I love it.
We had lunch at some tatami-place and I don’t think I have a photo of it in my phone.
I rated it 3 stars… guess it’s not that memorable because every meal just looks the same from that point onwards.
(whispers kaiseiki over and over)
Then we took a 3-hour bus ride to Tojinbo:
It was raining and cold and creepy. Because we arrived late and the usual shortcut route is closed for the day – we walked a longer way which was horrifying.
And don’t be fooled by the picture – it was really dark and gloomy but I raised the brightness.
I think if it had been bright and sunny, the vibes will be totally different.
Doesn’t help when the tour guide mentioned it used to be a hotspot for suicide in the past.
We took another hour to finally arrive at Fukui and this is our dinner for the night:
Yeah… kaiseiki, say it with me, k-a-i-s-e-i-k-i……….
Rated this 2 stars (I jotted down everything that happened in my phone’s notes section, otherwise I wouldn’t even remember a thing haha)
Looks are deceiving. Really.
See that crabby-looking thing? It was crappy.
And I tried this Jagabee snack which is butter-flavoured.
Something about butter in Japan is just different and overly sweet so it was quite bleh for me :(
Savoury over sweet, anytime.
Also, finished reading “Where She Went” (the sequel to If I Stay, which I watched on the plane) that day!!
Watched the movie on the plane, piqued my interest, downloaded the epub version, read it along the way.
I wouldn’t choose to read sad stories but just caught the movie on the flight to Japan – it isn’t a sad sad story with a sad ending but it’s really pretty damn sad to lose your entire family in a car accident. Kinda HEA for this whole story (not exactly a series right…) so I really enjoyed it!
And this was when I started to feel a sore throat coming….. oh snap.
Day 4 – Fukui/Kanazawa/Hida/Toyama
We went to a candy shop in the morning and everything was terrifying so no pictures there haha.
We also went to a cup shop at Kutani Mangetsu and got a free cup. HAHA.
Then we went to Kenrokuen Garden but before that we had lunch:
Don’t need to say more……….
Rated this 2.5 stars because it had strange prawns, crab and beancurd.
Garden was pretty but the weather was too cold so the enjoyment level was brought down a bit. Hahahah.
Our relationship in a nutshell.
No idea what I was doing but I demanded my sister to take cool insta-worthy shots but she failed her mission
Went to Shirakawago thereafter!
Really into sanlianpai shots
All for you
Unleashing my inner child
Snow was really heavy!
Picture I snapped before running back to the bus HAHA
Idk but I think this photo looks very sad
Wearing the yukata (only day I wore out of 3 nights in Onsen hotels)
Gave this 5 stars because of the udon and the crab.
Have more shells there because ahma and sister donated crab over (this isn’t the final amount)
And this is also the kaiseki with dancing abalone – grilling a live abalone :(
Sounds really cruel and disturbing and didn’t eat it!
Day 5 – Toyama/Nagano
Breakfast at the same hotel! (1 star)
View outside the window we didn’t know existed! Really pretty.
Pic of my ahma.
Went to some market which was erps.
But ate some good old wagyu beef:
I pretty not?
Yeah. You know what that is.
Pretty view I took on the bus ride while we left the countryside area!
Visited the Daio Wasabi Farm:
It had zero tourists.
Wasabi ice-cream which really just tasted like milk!!
I pretty not? Part 2
And lol with crab again:
Obsession was dying down slowly but surely at that time HAHA
And my miniature bowl of udon:
This dinner received a 4.5 star rating. HAHAH.
Day 6 – Mt Fuji/Tokyo
Went to Mt Fuji…. observation deck in the morning! Not the best view but this will do.
Looked really good that day – luck’s with us :)
Me x Mt Fuji
as seen on insta
Then we moved to Disneyland afterwards (2-hour plus journey!!) and reached at 12+?
It was crowded already (relatively less to a weekend/holiday but still crowded) and I’m starting to think Japanese kids skip school to play… a fair amount were wearing school uniform at 12? Morning session or afternoon session, it’s still strange.
And according to my mum that was our 7th time going Tokyo Disneyland. Apparently while I was much younger we went twice a year for a period of time.
Lunch :) At China Voyages!
Cinderella’s Castle :)
We went to Tomorrowland for my favourite ride ever: Grand Circuit Raceway!
Not enough kick but it’ll have to do considering I can’t get my license just yet…
Really into this car-racing crap HAHA.
Wanted to go to Pooh’s Hunny Hunt/Haunted Mansion ride but the waiting times were crazy: 80 and 60 minutes respectively.
Family didn’t want to queue so we visited the shops and had dinner at Restaurant Hoisaku where I ate this tempura set.
It wasnt the best but it was not too bad.
By then everyone was tired and drained.
Ate ice-cream (Double Chocolate single scoop – chocolate ice-cream with chocolate bits, MY FAVOURITE EVER KIND OF ICE-CREAM FLAVOUR WOOOOOOHOOOO)
Bought this popcorn bucket………
Got them in various sizes. The buckets open the same way, from XS to S to normal. I love them all!!
Pretty tree at night!
This my favourite item from the trip.
I love it so much.
Okie dokie then we left Disneyland soon after.
And I took a grand total of 1 ride.
But to be fair I did sit on all the rides before so I cannot selfishly expect my family to queue up with me when they’ve done the same la.
Parents went out with the tour guide to explore the subway and bought supper back :)
That’s it for my second last day in Japan.
Day 7 – Tokyo/Singapore
We shopped at Shinjuku the whole day!
Took the subway there – it was supposedly a free and easy day.
Of all days it had to rain!!! Again!!!!
Japan legit Takashimaya shopping centre. HAHA. Featuring mummy.
Disney store featuring tsumtsums HAHA
Had lunch at a random restaurant on the 13th Floor… no idea why I remembered that
Never thought I’d see a rude Japanese BUT one was spotted in this restaurant.
She was pretty mean and grumpy and rude.
But it was refreshing.
Not everyone is perfect.
Left when the sky was dark!
And check out starbucks! (to get the Tokyo card LOL)
Have you seen Starbucks potato chips?!?!
(They were pretty meh though)
A banana costs 80 yen, which is about 88 cents SGD.
More worth it there in Japan.
Anyway headed to the airport soon after:
Super pretty – the colour of the light changes
Some random shop in the airport – sister demanded me to take a photo of it because books and drugs don’t always go together
That’s the end for my trip to Japan :)
It was fun while it lasted – have been wanting to go to the country for the past few years, especially after learning the language, but the opportunity just never came up. Headed there with less than 30% of what I learnt left in my head (having an entire year of NOTHING Japanese-y) and yes… Japanese is indeed a tough language to pick up, just like any other. Thank goodness Katakana exists and Kanji (words similar to Chinese, even though some are completely irrelevant in terms of meaning) makes life easier a little. The people there were all so polite and warm, with some being exceptionally kind-hearted as well. They’re really passionate about their jobs, whether it’s a sweeper in theme parks or staff in shops (eateries that can’t quite be described with restaurants).
Also they have pretty amazing stuff going on, and the toilet bowl is merely one of it.
We all have that awkward moment where you’re the only one doing your business in the toilet, and it gets weird because it can get pretty loud. For them, once you plant your butt on the seat, for some places, there’ll be actual water flowing through so it gives the illusion you aren’t the only one doing the peepee or poopoo, and for other places, there’ll be some soundtrack of flushing water?!?!?! Really handy for all embarrassed young ladies HAHA.
Not to forget the butt-washing function – you can adjust the intensity and the speed what the heck.
It was a brand new experience.
Plus their flush – you don’t have to press the dirty buttons for some cooler places, you just have to hover your hand over the flush and it’ll automatically flush upon detecting your hand. I think there are some places in SG with this function also but more commonly seen in Japan I feel?
Yeah and thank you for waking up at 4+ in the morning just to pick me up :) :) :)
Love you la haha
Got a similar set for FBN as well haha (if you remember the popcorn thing above)
Thank you for always bringing joy to my life and having my back :) I love both of you a lot a lot a lot!!!!!!!!
Had our first NHMed meeting today with the juniors and got these derps gifts from Japan (if y’all are reading please use it wisely ok HAHAHA ;) )
Back to B52 after a long while and got my favourite cutlet ever :)
That’s about it :)
See you soon!
P.S. Super excited for catch-up with favourite bunch ever!!!!!!!!!!
Oh by the way haven’t forgot about my Would You Rather:
No knees as in cannot bend your legs (e.g. cannot walk/sit properly) and no elbows as in cannot bend your hands (e.g. cannot feed yourself with hands)
This is purely anonymous so I won’t judge
HAHA very excited to see your response, please fill it up?
Considering it’s making a comeback?
And also need to start to get my crap together, 2014′s ending in 2 weeks plus…….. sian
Me: (singing my lungs out passionately) I BELIEVE I CAN FLY~~~~ I BELIEVE-
Mum: You can’t. You’re too heavy.
Hahaha anyway hello everybody.
Quite a few things happened over the past two weeks and I don’t exactly know where to begin!! But I’ll try to do this in chronological order.
BUT first things first, happy (belated) birthday Mummy. You’re the most amazing person on the planet and I don’t know what I’ll do without you. I’m saying this from the bottom of my heart and I swear I love you loads loads loads loads loads more than you can ever imagine.
(Your dedication will come soon……… good things are worth waiting for)
Honestly things are only going to get disastrous from here and Math is probably the only decent subject.
Not going to go into gore and details because my blog is rated PG (I self-rated it because self-assessment is key to success) (what the heck did I just say) and it’s disgusting to watch people complain or whine about how badly they’re going to do, so let’s skip that.
Oh wait! I love having afternoon papers. The feeling is magical. Because I woke up at 9am every day. And 9am sounds greater than 6.45am.
And if you wake up earlier than 6.45am on a daily basis, my love will get you through. Please don’t scold me.
Okay the end.
It should have been the norm to cheer your head off and hang out with your friends as happy as can be after Block Tests, but I didn’t feel especially happy. (Could be because Bio was terrible)
Went for amazing lunch with the people I care most about (one was missing because she was suffering having lunch with Ms Craycray-Pls-Stop-Talking) but we reunited thereafter to watch Z-Feng Bao.
I love Hong Kong shows/movies/dramas and stuff la okay (partly because of my nationality LOL kidding) and Louis Koo was great. Dada Chen’s debut as a (half-)decent character was pretty entertaining. Overall the show was pretty much typical and predictable but I still loved it a lot for some strange reason. If you have nothing better to do with life, you can watch happy movies like these rather than sob your heart out watching Gus die. Okay? Okay.
(Sidenote: Is it an accomplishment for me to have not read/watched TFIOS? Yes? Yes.)
Anyway some photos from that very day:
OUTBAC @ BROGA
Most exciting bit of today’s post for most of you because all of you are terrible beings who enjoy my suffering and pain. THIS SECTION WILL ANSWER YOUR PERSISTENT QUESTIONS ON WHETHER OR NOT I HAD FUN.
(And with K’s demanding “I expect it to be funny”…………..)
If you know me personally (you don’t even have to be close to me), you’ll know sports/outdoor adventures/related stuff and me are not complementary. It’s like mentos to sprite, thymine to guanine, iPhone to Samsung, Brazil to Germany, NLB to special books… if you force both parties together, nobody’s gonna be happy. Nobody. N O B O D Y.
But somehow before I arrived at Broga, I had this short-lasting mindset:
Oh wait before we really talk about Broga, we sat through a morning of workshops and then got split up into 6 groups. And my closest babies weren’t with me. Thankfully, Wee Ling was in the same group as well so things weren’t too intolerable! (Thank you for everything Wee Wee much love for you)
Anyway I was pretty much with people I didn’t know la BUT they turned out to be really really lovely people :) Shoutout to Chyi Fang and Sharlene for being incredibly lovely people :’) But on the whole Group 1 was lovely la even though I was being this socially awkward person (as per normal) and appearing to be a loser. (Confidence level was -2189372189372819 because like the majority of people at the camp were from Sports & Games???)
Anyway we reached Broga pretty late that night and lets not get down to details…….
But here is a picture of our room!
Slept on the top bunk of the middle section which was right below the air-conditioner. I was literally 50cm away from the air-con but contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t that bad. :)
We got to choose our own bedsheets/blankets/pillow cases.
And I am not a n00b okay my bed sheet isn’t covering the bed entirely because the elasticity part wasn’t at its best state already.
Dinner that night – fried chicken + watermelon + vege + rice + 100% concentrated mango drink!! Was really good :)
Second day was spent doing the following activities:
rock climbing -> rapid tubing -> caving -> waterfall abseiling
I kid you not, it sounds as scary as it really is.
But that being said, I enjoyed them all.
It was madness – but really really fun madness.
No photos for today because it was ridiculous to bring my phone around + too tired at night to even do anything hahaha.
And I didn’t manage to climb to the top for rock climbing because my skinnier hands cannot support my fat lower half body (really need to do something about this…) and I tried at least 189371289329 times but nope, it wasn’t my lucky day.
But I did try my best!
Rapid tubing lasted about 2.78 seconds. Hahaha. The momentary rush of water up my nose was great. Not too bad.
And caving was really really fun – before that I have completely no idea what caving meant. But really it was climbing over rocks, under rocks, on rocks… And that was this really fun part where we were totally submerged underwater and surprisingly everybody’s (or most people’s) torchlights survived?!
Waterfall abseiling actually looks/sounds very scary but when you’re doing the actual thing it’s amazing. (I know my first go at abseiling was at P5 at some SparkC thingy near ECP.) The fact that you know you’re completely safe makes the entire journey down much better.
Found this image via Google! If I’m not wrong this is the same waterfall?? But okay even if it wasn’t, it looked like that. Hahahah.
Unfortunately, because I was perhaps one of the last 10+ to go, the first batch of people already went back to camp. Watched the remaining people abseiling down and it was actually pretty entertaining!!!
While waiting for the van/truck/dubious vehicle back to camp, a topless chubby man riding his motorbike drove past and he drove really close to Wee Ling while smiling creepily. Hahah she was scarred for life.
Anyway when we finally got back to camp, it was pretty late – more than an hour later than the first batch! We had BBQ/normal food for dinner that night and an amazing campfire show. Not going to share spoilers for that one! But it was incredible and unbelievable la.
Oh my god I must tell you before we get to each individual activity, there is some hiking/trekking to do. Honestly I don’t know how I didn’t roll off some steep cliff or anything + shoes were breaking apart with all the water and mud and sand, but I almost died while walking to the waterfall.
Theres this vehicle which will send us to a point where there is no more road, and then everyone has to walk the remaining parts la. And I thought rock climbing was bad enough. BUT NO.
The one up the waterfall was crazy.
Literally climbing upwards at some point and I was so tired and sweaty that sweat was going into my eyes. I am not a sporty lady so this amount of sweat is not quite normal for me okay you have to understand that. You’re reading the diary of a sports loser. This is not part of my everyday life.
Thinking back those trips were really terrifying.
Anyway after campfire the second night, I really just slept through the night because I was really deadbeat tired and wake-up call for the next morning was 5.15am.
If I thought the hike up to the waterfall was bad, the hike up Broga was 102389137x worse.
The hike was supposed to be “relatively easy” and about 45mins?
But no no baby, “relatively easy” is way too much an understatement.
I find it a need to reiterate again and again I AM AN UNFIT (WO)MAN and it really takes a lot of effort on my part to hike up a hill.
IT WAS A HILL (not a mountain or anything more majestic) but I almost died.
I get it. At this point in time, you’ll probably be like “it’s just you ok you’re the major loser” BUT NO. SPORTY FIT LADIES FOUND IT TOUGH TOO????? (Unless they’re lying to me or trying to make me feel better. Okay they probably are.)
But honestly that 8km hike up was oh-my-mamma-mia.
I was literally on all fours because there was this entire section which was vertical.
LIKE A VERTICAL CLIMB.
Like a ladder???
But theres really no support/real steps, but okay la you just have to know how painful it was for me.
I wanted to just give up and sit on the hugeass rock and wait for the rest to come down.
But yes I persevered till the very end (because Chyi Fang and Sharlene wouldn’t let me sit on the hugeass rock) and reached the peak!!!!!
And everything was worth it. :)
Some pictures I took!!
Gwyneth refuses to send me the 206 pic so that’ll have to do!!
And Group 1′s photo isn’t with me either! :(
But you see, guys, when you get yo butt up there, you gotta get it down.
Definitely the trip down was WAY better than the trip up, even though it was a lot more dangerous (actually not really, the way up was pretty bad)…
Thereafter we had this Outbac Adventure Race thing when we all had to make Milo – with all the equipment we would get along the way for completing each station.
And homegirl nearly died once again but yes I pulled through.
Gruelling morning which terrified me countless times but left me happy and satisfied.
That’s about it for Outbac @ Broga.
Following that was an 7 hours plus trip back to SG… reached about 930?
I lived happily ever after. (Still recovering from all the bruises and abrasions but I feel like a true young soldier)
I hope the above recount didn’t send off any negative vibes about Outbac @ Broga – the instructors were lovely, inspiring and motivational, Campfire was amazing, activities were fun, food was great, rooms were amazing… there really wasn’t anything to complain about.
The only pessimism came from yours truly, but really, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I don’t think I’ll ever quite forget. :)
If you ask me if I’d like to go back – maybe, with family and friends. The experience will be a lot more different in my opinion!!
Back to School after 1.25 Months
Xin Jie and Isabel were flirting with each other so no pics.
Thankful for lovely people around. ^^
This segment sounds really half-hearted but it’s really not. The stories and emotional baggage behind the word “Sian.”…. you’ll never know.
Okay that was complete bull.
Pls wait patiently for more exciting things to happen other than tutorials, integration, mock SPAs and rate = k[A]^m[B]^n.
Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
As mentioned above… thank you mummy for everything.
You’re the best. Really. You will get a heartfelt dedication really really soon.
Had buffet dinner (which isn’t ever worth it for me because I don’t even eat like crazy) which was pretty good!! (Loving snow crab)
Mummy, I love you a lot a lot a lot. Kiss kiss.
Hope you had a happy birthday this year… happier ones to come. I love you.
Thank you for being the best mummy anyone can ever ask for and for being my best friend.
Ni shi zui hao de, ni zhi dao ma?
TCN x Batch 13
Also went back to Nanyang on Friday to catch TCN’s production!
It was amazing, really.
Super happy for the juniors because of the tremendous success!!
Really enjoyed the play throughout hehe possibly one of the most amazing plays I’ve ever watched.
A lot more hard work goes into a production than anyone in the audience can ever imagine!!
Good job TCN!!!!!
Also have been a happy girl for the past week because some goodies finally arrived.
Sneak preview!! Some day I’ll get down to writing a detailed post about all these gems.
Miniatures are super adorable and lovely and they just naturally make me feel so much happier, especially if they’re super relatable and unique.
Went to disturb FBN yesterday while he was doing his work haha (I swear I didn’t pose that big a disturbance) and jiayou okay. These two weeks will be eye-opening and you’ll be so proud of yourself at the end of it all. :)
Jiayou to my other lovely babies who are a part of APYLS too!!
Last but not least, thank you for being around. I love you two a lot a lot a lot a lot even though you all like to irritate me and make fun of me. You are my baobeis and kaixinguos. I don’t know what I’ll do without you both.
Thats about all I intended to blog about :)
Thank you for reading and I hope you feel a little happier.
Jiayou for the week(s) ahead!
I think my greatest takeaway from Broga is everyone is better than they think they are.
(P.S. I ate that sh!t in the cookie jar because ONE WEEK LEFT. Love you babies @batch13 even though there are 3 reasons to be unhappy at all of you, except my inspirational baby SL #inspiringpeoplesince2010 #insidejoke)
(P.P.S. Didn’t manage to write the more light-hearted post I mentioned previously. Will do that ASAP.)
(P.P.P.S. Did you realise the change in fonts if you’re on your computer? If you’re on mobile and are curious, scroll down and click “view full site”. Took away the QOTD segment because it’s pointless. And will be changing header as soon as inspiration drives me crazy.)
