I’M STILL ALIVE!
It has been a pretty long three-week hiatus but yes I’m back to do my favourite activity – talk nonsense. (e.g. guidebook to voting for suitable candidates for council HAAHHAHA)
Gentle reminder not to take this post too seriously, except #4.
Actually this whole post is bullcrap and not really what the title suggests but it’d be nice to read through.
Before that though, allow me to list down notable events that happened over the past few weeks.
- March Holidays
- Term 2 Week 1
- Term 2 Week 2
Anyway because I have terrible memory (nowadays I realize I’m not that good at putting names to faces anymore – I used to be terrific at it) I can’t really remember specific details anymore.
March Holidays were spent….. slacking away? I have no idea what I did over the 10 (including special off day on Monday) days except going to YLLSoM for Recce with seniors and speaking of NHMed…
Watch #2 at your own risk (link above is pub vid #3, pretty impressive) hahaha!
Another amazing thing that happened was going to Adventure Cove with FBN and if you know me… I am super unsporty and I really don’t fancy going places like that, but it was great great fun!
Sidenote: THE ROLLERCOASTER (main attraction??) WAS NOT KIDDY. If you have a weak heart please don’t be fooled by evil friends/family that it’s not scary at all. It was fun though!!
Click here to see my Instagram post!
Anyway more pictures for suaku people who haven’t been there (like me):
Some cliff place with two jumping spots – one for the brave ones and one for the braver.
It was fun watching little kids run back in after they saw how high the higher spot really was. Usually happens after a “what-the-heck” expression or a gasp or two.
Lunch!! This was (v expensive but) really good. My favourite Singapore local dish!!
View in hotel room :) One-of-a-kind and one-time-enough-already-thank-you experience. Thank you mummy :)
FBN doing his thing and pretending to be macho.
(same dude who got 25/25 for NAPFA so far) (keep quiet if you also got 25 so far and you think its no big deal. YOURE INSENSITIVE TO MY FEELINGS)
He believes that smiling wider = grosser. HAHAAHA.
Would have written loads more about Adventure Cove if I had published the post that fateful day. HAHAH I was feeling too tired for anything but yes, it was a pretty damn amazing experience :)
Something that also happened during March holidays:
Lovely lovely people. Thank you so much for taking time out to pop by.
More details later. Read on. HAHAHAHAHA.
While we’re on the topic of lovely people:
Class selfie during Math lecture.
Class selfie during CT session last week.
I look beheaded by the creepy Liau but thats alright.
Another selfie with lovely people!
And Mary’s cast is off!!!!!!! Hopefully it’ll be the last time it’ll ever be there.
Good catchup session with these precious people at Serene Centre!! (Had to redeem my free small fries)
This is totally random but please look at my big green tea packet. It is not the same size as the usual kind you can buy for $0.50 at the canteen. This is the big deal.
Yaukult bottles for comparison.
(BTW WELCOME TO MY FRIDGE)
Okay I’m moving on to my actual content. 4 Things HC taught me so far.
#1 Collagen as a fibrous protein
Collagen is a fibrous protein because each collagen polypeptide/alpha-chain forms a helix with regular repeating tripeptide sequence. It is also insoluble in water.
So what gives collage its high tensile strength?
Each alpha-chain has a regular repeating tripeptide sequence glycine-proline-hydroxyproline/hydroxylysine and every third residue is a glycine. Three alpha-chains wound around each other to form a rope-like tropocollagen. The high tensile strength is also contributed by extensive hydrogen bonds. occurring between R groups of hydroxylysine and R groups of hydroxyproline from adjacent alpha-chains. Covalent cross-links are formed between adjacent alpha-chains to offer additional tensile support. Tropocollagen molecules further assemble in a staggered manner and are linked by covalent cross-links between carboxyl end of one tropocollagen molecule and the amino end of another to form collagen fibrils that lie in parallel bundles. forming collagen fibres that have high tensile strength.
I typed all of that out. Giving you a good reason to be reading my blog because you are revising your work/learning new things. You’re welcome.
#2 Elasticity Concepts
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA okay okay okay I’m not going to list out PED/YED/CED HAHAHHAHA this is quite funny I’m laughing to myself.
Anyway elasticity = napfa.
Never liked NAPFA since I first found out about it at the tender age of 9 (perks of being a July baby).
1) You have to keep sitting up and lying back down with your hands cupped at your ears for a freaking minute. As many times as possible.
2) You have to tie yourself down onto some wooden board and stretch forward as much as possible.
3) You have to jump across a “ruler” on the floor. How incredible does that sound.
4) Run to and fro across a measured distance 4 four FOUR F O U R TIMES and pick up only one goodie each time.
5) Let’s not even talk about inclined pull-ups.
Okay before someone reports me to MOE, NAPFA is amazing. Even though short(er) people are pretty much at a disadvantage. Short people and fit short people belong to different categories.
By the looks of it, I sound like I fail NAPFA every year.
But please be rest assured I’m fit enough to pass everything.
The reason why I’ve never attained Gold for NAPFA (go away if you’re going to be mean about this) but all is well.
Going to train until I jump 2.59m. (That’s beating FBN by 1cm)
Told Mary about my wonderful plan and she said I’d have to jump twice to reach that length.
I WILL PROVE TO YOU MARY. I WILL PROVE TO ALL YOU GOLD-MEDALISTS-FOR-NAPFA I CAN DO IT.
(actually no i cannot I know my limitations, but one must DARE TO DREAM #rotarytalk #entrepreneurship #RaselCatering)
#3 Nice people make going to school a happier affair
This is a stupid comment, but yes allow me to say it out.
April’s birthday celebration!
Rachelian’s and class birthday (4/04) celebration :D
FBN’s celebration on the same day!
Class celebration for Term 1 babies! :)
Really enjoy these kinds of birthday celebrations!! Make me feel really happy inside!
#4 Council elections = v v v important
Therefore, it is essential that we show firm support for lovable people who are amazing and have the potential to bring the school to greater heights. Not leaving out the must-haves, e.g. passionate, responsible, hardworking, trustworthy, friendly, no-hidden-agendas, beautiful inside-out people.
And I am here to share some lovely people with you. (I assure you they have the above qualities)
[THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED ADVERTORIAL]
Definitely, this source is not the most reliable and may in fact be slightly biased but please be rest assured that the following people will definitely not disappoint. I promise you.
But even if so, no refund policies here.
a) Ng Yong Hong
Please take a moment to watch his campaign video with his fellow group mates. (hahaha I have an ulterior motive for this)
If you have doubts about his potential, please see the photo below.
Leader since 1997 please. (look at prefect tie and badge)
No but please take me seriously, I’m not kidding. He’s a really amazing person who brings joy to people around him and when he gets down to business, he really does.
He got the brains (OSA recipient and ARE nominee) and the looks and the long-legs-to-jump-2.58m-for-SBJ. Not forgetting the qualities as well.
b) Angeline Tan Qi Ting
Lovely touchy buddy but will be a super amazing councillor. I CAN FEEL IT!!
c) Christine Wong
This girl calls me a troll all day in upper sec.
She’s also the same girl who’s my half-PE buddy (because she’s fit and Im not, so the half is necessary) and the same person who motivates other people. Cross Country Run last year would be terrible without her. THIS PERSON DESERVES YOUR VOTE!
(and she also sings school songs with passion)
d) Hong Sung Jin
Labmate, ICT mate, anything-you-name-it mate in Secondary 1 and 2. Same girl who bakes amazing blueberry muffins. (#COOKS)
e) Adeline Lim
Friendship goes all the way back to Primary 4.
Very lovely person who is a joy to be with and very caring and understanding and lovable!! You have to know her to know how amazing she is.
f) April Chin
APRIL DOESNT NEED ANY ELABORATION. I BELIEVE YOU ARE ALREADY PERSUADED TO VOTE FOR HER.
Still find the need to insert the fact that she’s a very sweet girl and miss all the H.A.Y. Deskies times in 206 :(
g) Chua Sue Yu
SAME AS ABOVE ^.
JUST VOTE FOR SUE ALREADY.
She’s one of the most lovable people you’ll EVER get to meet.
h) Jael Tan
Jael’s a super efficient and responsible person!! She’s someone every team will need to reach their full potential.
Thank you very much for your kind attention.
I really really feel that these people deserve to be in council because of all the hard work they put in despite having to face obstacles along the way. They’re really dedicated and lovely so please really do consider voting for them if you’re in Ares/Athena!
Heard so many rumours about elections thus far, and it’s definitely not my place to spread them or say anything at all, but really!! THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING AND ONE-OF-A-KIND. NO REGRETS IF YOU VOTE FOR ‘EM ALL.
Anyway today’s FBN and Lian’s birthday!
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
(Posting this on time hahaha)
Thank you so much for being a part of my life and may there be even happier days ahead!! Much love for you guys!
Thanks for reading!
Off to Biology I go! :)
