June has been pretty eventful thus far :)
This post will be filled with many many photos (which is rare) so yeah… I don’t know why I said that.
As some may know, on the first week of holidays, we went to Hong Kong.
Hong Kong, Kowloon Hong Kong~~~~~~
(You may recall I just went there in Dec. Post here!)
Let pictures do the talking!! (They’re in random order)
Lol no Im going to talk as well. View from the hotel room at Marco Polo Gateway :) It was renovated and it’s looking dayum good now.
More on Chi Ji. (The crab porridge is reeeaaallllyyy good.)
Headed to Tsui Wah Restaurant the next morning for the breakfast.
Not the most flattering picture of food and it looks considerably oily.. but the Satay Beef Noodles are really good!
With my cutesy ahma.
How it looked like at 9+ a.m. (starts to flood after 10+)
Another special place I went is Angelababy’s Cafe (again) and I can’t help but say I was a tad disappointed because they changed the menu.
Doesn’t “Spicy Chicken Lollipops with Potato Wedges” sound incredibly yummy? (It’s called Zha4 Ji1 Hua1, and chinese characters cannot be seen on my blog hence the hanyupinyins)
How it looked like ^
Oh god. It was kinda bad. It was recommended as well which made the situation worse. Hahaha. But the potato wedges tasted the same.
The whole place looked the same as well!
If you’ve been following the food craze in SG for a while, you most probably would have heard of/eaten at Tim Ho Wan (cantonese of Tian1 Hao3 Yun4)!
^ Char Siew Pao which is the best Dim Sum served there in my point of view.
The whole place was pretty meh there in HK!
Ate this Chicken Katsu Curry meal there in Harbour City which is also, of course, undeniably good.
It was served with udon!
And last but not least, the giant rubber duck!
You can read more about the Rubber Duck Project here.
But anyway, from May to 9 June, the duck was in HK’s Harbour City heh.
(It deserves the 100% scaled space.)
^ As can be seen from my IG!
It was like some duck paradise in HK (with B Duck and all) and I got some goodies for closer friends heh. ;) All ducky and all.
That was kinda the highlight of the trip… I guess. :)
Here’s an artsy-wannabe photo of a random HK street.
It’s not even clear lol. And it’s just outside Harbour City!
Epic conversations of the trip:
Ahma: Makudonald & KFC boh xiang meh? (Macs and KFC not the same meh?)
Me: Jie do you love me? Do you? Do you? Do you?
Sis: Yeah. Now shut up.
Guy in lift: Seven! (Referring to level 7 lah) Seven. Seven. Seven. Seven!
His partner: *presses six*
Everyone in lift: *awkward silence*
Mum: It’s 5!! We gotta go!
Everyone: *looks at clock which says 4.08 pm*
In case you were wondering, all photos were snapped with an iPhone 5.
Streetsales with the awesome foursome
(how incredibly corny hahahaha)
Day started off at the Macs outside Toa Payoh’s MRT Station Exit… D?
Heard cool stuff from Rachelian (and saw cool stuff ;D ;D ;D).
There was a discussion regarding McDee’s Hello Kitty Soft Toys. I don’t even know why.
Almost everyone who exited McDonald’s carried that little box of… Hello Kitty goodness.
I ate Happy Meal breakfast. And I got the “fake Hello Kitty toy” as Rachelian dubs it.
Weh weh weh.
Then we moved on to do streetsales and we went to Orchard. Then Serangoon. Then back to Toa Payoh.
It wasn’t as boring as it sounds above ;D
In fact it was pretty dang fun!
I know there’s a hole in my fringe. I know.
“I’m a little cute flower”
Meet Sue Yu. And her unusual fries-eating habits. HAHAHAHA.
Okay lah I won’t go into details. Just remember… next time Sueyu offers to share her fries with you… DON’T TAKE THEM! (Kidding. They should be safe. I hope.)
Anyway the photos above weren’t the glammest because I told rachlian/becca/suez to make their ugliest faces because even the ugliest faces can look pretty in Camera360/HelloCamera!! IT’S TRUE! Try it at home. Lol.
We have a polaroid each and we were having a photoshoot.
HAHAHAH NAH KIDDING we were hard at work. (We had 1h lunch break)
Anyway here’s the crux of the post (please ignore me. disclaimer: this is complete nonsense please don’t dang1 zhen1)
HOW TO DO WELL IN STREETSALES
1. Ignore stereotypes.
I’m pretty sure many people have done streetsales/seen people doing streetsales/helped people doing streetsales by donating. And there are many many stereotypes! (Wont go into details lah, because it’s not the most politically correct and this is a public platform after all)
The way to go, is to ignore them. Mm.
2. Be special.
Just do what people aren’t doing!!
Everyone’s like “DONT GO ORCHARD!!!! EVERYONE’S THERE!!!!!!!”
Here’s the catch. If everyone thinks that way… then nobody will be at Orchard. Then if you do streetsales there…
Yeah but then if everyone thinks that way you’ll be back to Square 1.
The next time I ever do Streetsales, I might be going down to…
I think the name sounds awfully cute.
Also using this name for future MRT games.
3. Always end off every conversation with a “Thank You” coupled with a creepy smile
Guilt-tripping is one of the best ways to well, make someone guilty.
4. Bring a loudhailer.
People tend to pretend not to hear you. So a loud hailer will do the trick. Then once they stare at you/do nasty things, refer to 3.
5. Seek advice from someone who has succeeded before – a.k.a. not me.
Things not to do:
1. Shove the tin into someone’s face and chant “Thank You”. I tried it on Becca and she didn’t take it very well.
2. Sit down conveniently and place your tin in front of you. It may look a little misleading.
Yup. Any other thing under the sun should be do-able.
Good luck! #TryingtobeMichellePhan #Failingmiserably #Failed
Haha okay ya.
That shall be it for today’s post!
And in case life is being extremely nasty to anyone of you, things will get better really soon.
You have to believe in it for it to happen!
Stay strong!!! <3 :D
See you all!
Crazy week(s) ahead.
P.S. I find the need to remind you half the holidays are gone. Time flies man.
